Chakra Cleansing Rituals

Chakras are energy centers in our bodies that channel life force. The chakras are energy centers that influence our psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Each of the seven major chakras is located along the spinal column. You’ll have a sense of vitality and well-being when your chakras are centered and grounded.

When your chakras are out of balance, you may experience anxiety, depression, or creative blockage. You may also experience physical symptoms like headaches or fatigue.

In this article, you’ll learn 5 amazing techniques to help bring cleansing to your chakra system.

Colors and locations of the chakras

Each chakra center is associated with a specific color. Colors have unique qualities and traits and can help heal the chakra they are attached to. Humans, or “hue men”, are made of many different hues or colors of energy. When balancing a specific chakra, knowing the color that it’s associated with can help you decide which tools to use. If you’re looking to balance your heart chakra, which is green, choosing green crystals, wearing green colors, or meditating on the color green can be very beneficial.

  • Root Chakra – Red, Base of spine
  • Sacral Chakra – Orange, Pelvic region
  • Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow, Navel region
  • Heart Chakra – Green, Heart center
  • Throat Chakra – Blue, Throat region
  • Third Eye Chakra – Purple, Center of the forehead
  • Crown Chakra – Violet, Top of head

When a chakra is out of balance, what does it mean?

There are seven chakras, each in charge of a different aspect of your life. If one chakra is not functioning properly, it can throw off the others, resulting in a cascade of imbalances or even addictions.

When one of your chakras is out of balance, you may experience physical, emotional, or mental health issues.

  • Root Chakra – fear, worry, fight or flight mode
  • Sacral Chakra – creative blocks, unhealthy desires, recklessness
  • Solar Plexus Chakra – low self-worth, low confidence, unhappiness
  • Heart Chakra – self-hatred, fear of commitment, unable to give or receive love (see also chakras and relationships)
  • Throat Chakra – lies, secrecy, not being able to speak your mind, poor communication (read the post when you think you’ve got an overactive or underactive throat chakra)
  • Third Eye Chakra – falling for illusions, blocked intuition, poor vision.
  • Crown Charka – lack of spiritual purpose, feeling uninspired, low consciousness

Meditation as a chakra cleansing ritual

If you’re looking to improve your energy flow and well-being, chakra balancing may be for you. This method entails focusing on and realigning your body’s seven chakras.

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial to get you started.

1. Settle into a comfortable position. This technique can be performed standing, sitting, or lying down. Make sure you’re comfortable and will be able to continue for at least 10 minutes in whatever position you choose.

2. Focus on your breathing. Concentrate on your breathing sensations. If you notice your mind wandering, gently bring it back to the breath. Find some more advice on chakra breathing exercises.

3. Find your own way to get started. Each chakra corresponds to a different color. Focus your attention on each chakra and visualize the color associated with it.

4. Begin at the bottom of the spine and work your way up. If this is your first time, begin with the root chakra

5. Visualize each chakra and its vibrant energy, expand and balance itself. Unbalanced chakras are usually still and stagnant, so this will manifest as the energy beginning to spin.

6. Repeat for each chakra, working your way up.

7. When you’re finished, your chakras should be completely balanced.

8. Repeat this process whenever you notice any of the symptoms of a chakra system that is out of balance.

“Each of the seven chakras are governed by spiritual laws, principles of consciousness that we can use to cultivate greater harmony, happiness, and wellbeing in our lives and in the world.”

Breathing technique for the chakras

Pranayama is an ancient breathing technique derived from yoga and Hinduism practices. Conscious breathing not only benefits your health but also helps clear the energy centers in your body. Read more about chakra breathing techniques here.

  1. Straighten your back and relax your spine
  2. Take a deep breath in and let it rush down your spine.
  3. Hold your breath for a few seconds, then slowly exhale.
  4. Feel the breath moving through each chakra point as it ascends.
  5. Feel your breath energizing and balancing each chakra location.
  6. Instead of exhaling through your mouth, imagine exhaling through your crown chakra (you can also use herbs for crown chakra healing).
  7. Continue this process for 5 -10 cycles through each of the chakras.

Affirmations or mantras

One of the most effective ways to balance your chakras is to focus and direct your attention to each chakra while using mantras or positive affirmations. A mantra can help you quiet your mind and focus on the energy of the chakra you’re working with.

Here are some mantras for each chakra to try:

  • Root Chakra – I am at peace and feel safe and supported.
  • Sacral Chakra – I am creative, creative, and vibrant.
  • Solar Plexus – I value myself and work to improve my self-esteem.
  • Heart Chakra – My heart is open to giving and receiving love.
  • Throat Chakra – I speak my truth confidently and authoritatively.
  • Third Eye Chakra – I see right through all deceptions.
  • Crown Chakra – I embrace my soul’s purpose.

Chakra healing with sound bowls

Sound bowls may be the answer if you’re looking for a way to heal your chakras. Sound bowls are a centuries-old healing tool that has been used to help balance the body’s energy centers.

The body has seven major chakras, each of which is associated with a different sound and element. You feel aligned and at peace when these chakras are in balance.

However, when they are out of balance, you can feel off-kilter and disconnected from your highest self.

Sound bowls use the power of sound vibrations to help restore balance to your chakras. When you strike or ring a sound bowl, a vibrational frequency is produced that travels through your body, aligning and balancing your energy centers.

Using crystals to balance the chakras

Crystals are used in chakra cleansing rituals/chakra balancing because they have the ability to balance energy at various points throughout the body. When selecting crystals, you can usually select a specific color of crystal and use it for the chakra associated with that color.

For example, amethyst, a purple gemstone, can be used to balance the crown chakra. The green aventurine can be used to balance the heart chakra. Carrying a crystal around with you is an excellent way to help balance any chakra that requires healing

You can also meditate while lying flat on your back with specific crystals placed on each chakra point. As you meditate, imagine that each crystal opens the energy within your chakras, allowing them to expand and rebalance.
