British summer weather and temperatures can cause severe depressions, that much is clear.
My advice here is to bring the weather with you, which I did in this picture (it worked).
I tried also to adopt the latest Hipstamatic kind of picture style.
High Dynamic Range Photography is good fun. You even don’t need to take several differently exposed hdr photos you just need to have the right hdr software and it does it for you. (This is not a proper hdr tutorial but a pondering from my side)
It helps if you have a camera which can shoot raw images since they are easy to alter in terms of exposure. Depending on the image you choose the high dynamic range by making several copies (I am using Lightroom‘s virtual copies for that) with different exposures. Then you feed photomatix or HDR Efex Pro (this image) and there you go. Ok, with Photomatix you have to know the actual Tone Mapping process a bit but this is more learning by doing. Well, and then more editing in Lightroom but this is a different tutorial.
You can make your hdr photo make look real like the wall on the image or more artistic like here
This hdr image was shot in Wales.
Taganga near Santa Marta is not the idyllic fishing village it once was, but local authorities have realized some tourism implementation on the front beach and tried to improve the infrastructure. It still has charm and might be a nicer place than Santa Marta.
The photo shows the main beach which is shared with the harbor of Taganga. It’s small and simple but good for swimming but will be very crowded on weekends by Colombian tourists. Good scuba diving is available in the nearby tayrona national park and there are plenty of hotels.
I always stayed in the Hotel Casa Blanca directly at the beach. Que bacano!
